About the Director:
Mary Carol Kallam
I am a teacher at heart, always. I graduated from Longwood University in 1992 with an Elementary Education degree and taught for 10 years in the public schools systems in Charlotte and Mecklenburg counties in Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades before my dream of opening an early childhood learning center became a reality in 2002! Then had the pleasure of teaching and starting a Kindergarten program at M.C.'s Kids and taught Kindergarten for two wonderful years.
I’m a firm believer that children are sponges waiting to be filled with knowledge and once they have soaked it all in they WILL NEVER forget it! I am a South Hill native and married with two children and a little poodle I call my third child. So when deciding to visit and hopefully sending your child to M.C.’s Kids, please remember that this is a place that I call home and am very passionate about… after all, I share its name.

Ann Taylor Kallam Upton
Ann Taylor is Mary Carol’s daughter. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication with a minor in Psychology. She graduated from William Peace University in Raleigh, North Carolina in 2018. Previously, she was a News Reporter in Wilmington, North Carolina, then in Roanoke, Virginia before coming back home to South Hill.
Ann Taylor is responsible for billing, all things involving our Brightwheel App, Communication with parents, staff, all of our social media platforms, field trips for the children and outreach events within our community. She also assists with recruitment of potential children and teachers as well as helps them along with the onboarding process.
